As in the previous years, the seminar ‘Spatio-temporal ecosystem services analysis and assessment’ once again included a day excursion to our study area Lamspringe. On 21.11.2024, 15 international Master's students from the Master's programmes Landscape Sciences and Regional and Environmental Planning braved the cold weather conditions to explore the study area.
As part of the seminar, the students analyse various ecosystem services in this location and develop future scenarios for possible changes in the provision of these benefits provided by nature. The day excursion is an important complementary learning component in order to gain a holistic understanding of the topic. Our former colleague Dr Bastian Steinhoff-Knopp from the Thünen Institute gave a vivid and insightful introduction to the measurement and modelling of the ecosystem service ‘control of soil erosion’ at this permanent observation site.
