Spin-offs: Academic Entrepreneurship
The Institute of Physical Geography and Landscape Ecology promotes knowledge and technology transfers through young companies. Students and researchers are given the opportunity to found academic spin-offs based on their research. This form of university-based company formation presents an important transfer between science and business.
Leibniz University supports these projects through the start-up service starting business, which among other services, offers assistance in applying for the EXIST Programme of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.
HAIP Solutions: Digitalisation for sustainable agriculture
In September of 2019 HAIP Solutions was the first spin-off from the Institute of Physical Geography and Landscape Ecology to receive funding from the EXIST program. The institute is in close contact with HAIP Solutions - a cooperation from which both sides will benefit for a long time.
HAIP Solutions - Hyperspectral Agricultural Imaging Platform - is dedicated to hyperspectral remote sensing in agriculture to detect plant diseases in the field before they break out. The technology automatically records and analyses plant health by using drones. Thanks to the precise application of fertilisers and pesticides, farmers can secure and also increase their yields, optimise costs and support sustainability by reducing their environmental impact.
