It was well attended by representatives of the French government services in French Guiana, the Collectivité Territoriale de Guyane, as well as by partners from French Guiana, Guyane, Suriname and Germany. The aim of ECOSEO is to establish a first ecosystem account for the region, applying different methods including Ecosystem Natural Capital Accounting (ENCA) and Mapping and Assessment of Ecosystems and their Services (MAES), according to the EU Biodiversity Strategy 2020. The PhyGeo is responsible for the creation of first ecosystem services maps for French Guiana, testing and applying methods developed in MAES and ESMERALDA in the European Overseas Department.
