The International Association for Landscape Ecology (IALE) held its 11th World Congress in Nairobi, Kenya, from 10th – 15th, July 2023. The IALE World Congress occurs every four years and is the premier event for landscape ecologists worldwide to address topics in landscape ecology. This year’s Congress theme was ‘Transboundary Resource Management, Climate Change and Environmental Resilience’. The PhyGeo was represented by Benjamin Burkhard who gave a presentation on „Quantification, mapping and assessment approaches for agroecosystem services“. On the last day of the Congress, Benjamin Burkhard was honoured with the Presidential award for his manifold contributions in the IALE Executive Committee in the last 12 years.
