Focus in research and teaching
Luke’s main research interests are the valuation of natural resources and environmental impacts and the design of economic instruments to control environmental problems. He has worked on the valuation of ecosystem services provided by a variety of biomes including marine ecosystems, mangroves, coral reefs, inland wetlands, forests, grasslands, and urban green space. Luke has expertise in the application of number of primary economic valuation methods including discrete choice experiments, hedonic pricing, travel cost method, and avoided damage costs. In addition, he has conducted research on the use of meta-analyses of the ecosystem valuation literature for the purposes of value transfer.
